DENTON, Texas – The Bacone track and field wrapped up their fourth outdoor meet North Texas Classic and made some history in the process.
History was made for the Bacone track and field program with the first-ever women’s 4×100 and 4x400m relay teams; the 4X100 team consisted of Tempest Thorpe, Amber Scott, Chaney Porter and Rebecca Shanks and running the 4X400m relay was Cynthia Harris, Thorpe, Scott and Shanks.
On the men’s side Collin Swanagan finished sixth in men’s 200m dash with a time of 21.59, which qualified him A-standard for nationals.
The men’s 4X100 relay team consisting of Jarvis Allen, Andre Barnett, Alvin Harris and Swanagan took third with a time of 41.73 which meet the qualifying A-standard time.
Cameron Foster took sixth in the 800-m dash with a time of 1:59.85 and Emmanuel Birdens placed fifth in 110-m hurdles and second in the 400m hurdles at 55.03.
Freshman Dwayne Johnson placed third in the high jump at 1.73m.
Next week (Apr. 15-16) the Warriors compete in the Red River Athletic Conference meet in Ft. Worth, Texas, hosted by Texas Wesleyan.
