MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The Bacone Warriors swept the Roosevelt (Ill.) Lakers 4-0 and 2-1 on Saturday, March 15.
In the opener the Warriors grabbed the early lead when Jonathan Villela doubled to bring home Jean Carlos Rodriguez; Villela later scored on a bases loaded walk.
Ryan Wagner and Jean Ortiz also scored in the inning on a sacrifice fly and wild throw respectively; the four runs was all the Warriors needed as they blanked the Lakers 4-0.
Starter Tyler Delzell narrowly missed a no-hitter after allowing the lone hit in the second inning; the right-hander also recorded five strikeouts in the complete game victory.
The finale turned out to be a thriller as the Warriors trailed 1-0 entering the final frame; the Warriors managed to get two runners with two outs which brought Diego Cruz to the plate.
Cruz doubled to the left side to bring home Will Simms and Peter Rodriguez as the Warriors grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion.
Dalton Gervais took the victory as he allowed only one runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
Bacone (16-6) faces St. Gregory’s on Tuesday, March at 3 p.m. at home.
