SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Bacone Warriors returned to their winning ways with a 7-5 victory over St. Gregory’s on Monday, March 31.
The Warriors grabbed the lead in the fourth when Peter Rodriguez tripled to score Ryan Wager; Rodriguez later scored on an RBI single from Jean Carlos Rodriguez.
Wagner added an RBI groundout in the fifth to push Bacone’s lead to 3-0.
The Cavaliers turned the tide with one run in the fifth and sixth followed by three runs in the seventh inning to lead 5-3.
Bacone tied the game in the eighth when Jean Ortiz connected on a two-run homerun; the Warriors cruised back in front in the ninth inning when Smailit Feliz hit a two-run bomb to make the score 7-5.
St. Gregory’s managed one hit in the bottom of the ninth giving way to the Warriors 7-5 victory.
Ortiz finished one-for-two with two RBIs. Ronnie Galindo grabbed the win in relief after tossing two scoreless innings.
Bacone (19-14, 5-7) will face Oklahoma City in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Tuesday, April 1 at 6 p.m.
