Office: 918.781.7237

J.T. Severe enters his first season as the Head Baseball Coach for the Warrior baseball program at Bacone College.  He assumes this responsibility after being at Bacone College for one year as the Assistant Baseball Coach where he served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.

Before coaching at Bacone College, Severe served as the pitching coach for Northern Oklahoma College Enid.  In his three years at NOC Enid, the team improved from 25 to 41 wins and finished the 2009 season ranked 9th in the NJCAA polls.  Severe helped build upon the strong tradition of pitching as shown by the numerous pitching records being broken.  His 2008 pitching staff broke the school record for strikeouts in a season with 417 and his 2009 pitching staff tied the school record for nine shutouts in a season.

In the summer of 2008, Severe served as the Associate Head Coach for the Florence Red Wolves (Florence, S.C.) in the Coastal Plain League.  Severe helped guide Florence to the franchise’s best season in its history with a first-half South Division Championship and Pettit Cup runner-up finish.  Severe’s pitching staff was the best in the league posting a team ERA of 2.97 and an opposing batting average of 0.234.  Five Red Wolves pitchers have been selected in the MLB draft.

He is a native of Stillwater, Okla. and began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Stillwater High School in 2004.  He helped guide the 2005 team to the 6A state tournament.  Severe’s 2005 pitching staff produced impressive numbers with an ERA of 2.80 and broke the school record with 10 shutouts in 39 games.

Severe began his collegiate playing career at NOC Enid, where he was twice named 1st Team Bi-State Conference All-Region and an NJCAA All-American in 2002.  In the 2002 opening game of NJCAA World Series, he threw a complete game 3-2 victory over Pearl River Community College (Poplarville, Miss.).  NOC Enid finished 3rd in the World Series.  Severe holds the record for the most wins in a career with 19 and he won the first game for the NOC Enid program in 2001.

He went on to play at New Mexico State University for two seasons from 2003-2004.  While at NMSU, the Aggies had the best finish in school history and broke the school record for wins and earned a regional bid to Tempe, Ariz.

Severe graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University in 2006.   He completed his master’s degree in adult education management and administration from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 2008.   He has served in the classroom as an instructor and as a coach on the baseball field.  J.T. and his wife, Alicia, were married in 2006.
