MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Bacone College Athletic Director Alan Foster announced the appointment of Brian McCurdy as the new head men’s soccer coach.
McCurdy takes over for the departed James Carter who accepted a coaching position in Missouri.
“I feel really fortunate that someone with Coach (Brian) McCurdy’s credentials was available and interested,” Foster said. “His soccer knowledge is off the charts and on top of that has extensive knowledge playing at the NCAA Division I level and for a semi-pro team.”
“One of the things we were trying to find was someone with ties to Oklahoma. With Coach (Brian) McCurdy’s knowledge, his coaching and playing background made him an excellent fit to lead out soccer program for the future.”
McCurdy comes to the Warriors after coaching at Union High School in Tulsa, Okla. from 2014-2015; during his time there the Redskins advanced to the second round of the playoffs.
Prior to his arrival at Union, he coached at Bixby High School in Bixby, Okla. from 2009-2014 and made the playoffs four out of five seasons.
Additionally, the first-year head coach played for the Tulsa Athletics of the National Premier Soccer League in 2013 before joining the coaching staff in 2014.
McCurdy played collegiately at the University of Tulsa where he started 57 out of 70 career games. During his playing time at TU the Golden Hurricane advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2004 and won the Conference-USA Championship in 2007.
