MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Bacone Rodeo team returned from the Kansas State University Rodeo with one top-five individual finisher.
Anthony James Visco finished fifth in the Bull Riding competition with a score of 71.0.
Bacone returns to the arena on Friday, March 7 for the Fort Scott Community College Rodeo in Fort Scott, Kan.
MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The Bacone rodeo team received a special surprise over the weekend, Jan. 25, from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association who brought along 12 bulls, giving the rodeo team a chance to experience live bull riding.
The PRCA stock contractor was Rafter H out of Tahlequah, Okla. and provided 12 bulls; currently they’re looking to bring stock every two weeks when schedule permits for the rodeo team to use.
“It was a great experience for them,” Bacone rodeo coach Ryon Steeley said. “The kids really enjoyed it and we’re looking forward to working with them in the future.”
MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Athletic Director Alan Foster announced the appointment of Ryon Steeley as the new Bacone rodeo coach on Thursday, July 24.
Steeley comes to Bacone after having coached rodeo from 2000-2009 in the Tahlequah, Okla. and Montana areas; he was a member of the rodeo team at NEO from 1995-98 and Missouri State from 1998-99.
He currently holds a bachelor’s of science in animal science degree from Missouri State.

Rodeo begins their season on Sept. 20 at the Colby Community College rodeo in Colby, Kan.
MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The 2013-14 Bacone College rodeo schedule was released which features a total of 10 rodeos in the states of Oklahoma and Kansas beginning in September.
Sept. 20 kicks things off with the Colby Community College Rodeo in Colby, Kan.; the month of October has two rodeos scheduled the first being the Pratt Community College Rodeo on Oct. 4 and the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rodeo on Oct. 31.
The rodeo team takes a break before starting back up on Feb. 21 at the Kansas State Rodeo followed by the Garden City Community College Rodeo on Feb. 28 and the Fort Scott Community College Rodeo on Mar. 7.
April features four rodeos beginning on Apr. 3 at the Southeastern Oklahoma Rodeo, the Southwestern Oklahoma State Rodeo on Apr. 10, and the Fort Hays State Rodeo on Apr. 18 and concludes on Apr. 24 at the Panahandle State Rodeo in Guymon, Okla.
CASPER, Wyo. – Clay Pianalto was the lone member of the Bacone Rodeo team to earn a trip to the College National Finals Rodeo and managed to finish 28th in team roping which took place June 10-16.
Pianalto partnered with Tanner Braden from Northwestern Oklahoma State and placed 28th overall; their best time was 9.6 in the third go.
The CNFR now concludes the rodeo season for Bacone; their first scheduled rodeo for fall 2012 is set for Sept. 21 at the Colby Community College Rodeo in Colby, Kan.
FORT SCOTT, Kan. – At the Fort Scott Community College Rodeo on Mar. 12 the Bacone College Rodeo team was unable to place in the top-ten but managed two top-ten individual finishers.
Tanner Thomas McElhaney tied for seventh in steer wrestling with a 10.2; Jesse Wade Popescul took eighth as the team roping header with a 6.5.
Bacone is back on the road again for the Panhandle State Rodeo in Goodwell, Okla. on Apr. 5.
GARDEN CITY, Kan. – The Bacone College rodeo team managed to take seventh place at Garden City Community College Rodeo which took place from Mar. 2 to Mar. 4.
Bacone finished with 175 points overall; Western Oklahoma State College took first place with 705 points.
Jesse Wade Popescul managed to place in three events; in tie-down roping he took third with a 20.4 score, in team roping header he took fifth with a 5.2 and in men’s all=around he took third with 175 points score.
Bacone will travel to Fort Scott, Kan. to take part in the Fort Scott Community College Rodeo on Mar. 9.
PRATT, KS – The Bacone Rodeo team finished tenth overall at the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rodeo that took place from Nov. 3 to Nov. 5.
Clay Obrien Pianalto had the only notable finish as he took second in the team roping header with a time/score of 16.8.
The Rodeo squad will now go into hiatus before taking part in the Kansas State Rodeo on Feb. 17, 2012 in the spring semester.
PRATT, KS – The Bacone College Rodeo took four overall at the Pratt Community College Rodeo that took place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.
Jesse Clayton King finished second as the team roping header with a time/score of 13.8, Tanner Thomas McElhaney placed second as the team roping heeler with a time/score of 13.8.
The Rodeo team is back on the road as the travel to the Southeastern OK State Rodeo on Oct. 6.
