Warriors Fall to Jarvis

MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The Bacone Warriors dropped a doubleheader on Saturday, March 29 to conclude their four-game series against Jarvis Christian.
In the opener the Warriors trailed the Wildcats 4-0 entering the final frame when Ryan Wagner scored on a sacrifice fly out followed by an RBI single off the bat of Eric Folkers.
With one runner on and one out, Folkers was forced out on a fielder’s choice and Edwin Torres flied out to leftfield to clinch the 4-2 win for Jarvis Christian.
Dalton Gervais tossed a solid six innings while giving up three runs on six hits but did pick up the loss.
Folkers finished one-for-four with one RBI.
Game two was a flurry of fireworks that ultimately went the way of the Wildcats in an 11-9 defeat.
Jarvis Christian built an 11-3 advantage entering the eighth inning but the Warriors mounted a furious rally that included a six-run eighth inning.
Trailing 11-9 in the bottom of the ninth, Jonathan Villela was hit by a pitch which brought Wagner to the plate with two outs.
Wagner would ground out to the third basemen and halt Bacone’s rally in the ninth.
Matt Durbin took the loss after giving up seven runs on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings; Pake Montgomery allowed four runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief work.
Rodriguez finished two-for-four with three RBIs and Villela went three-for-four with one RBI.
Bacone (18-14, 5-7) faces Saint Gregory’s on Monday, March 31 at 3 p.m.
