Warriors Split with Lakers

MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The Bacone Warriors split at home on Friday, March 14 against Roosevelt University to move to 14 wins on the season.
In game one the Warriors rode the pitching of senior Tim Hill to a 5-1 victory; Hill scattered four hits, one unearned run with 10 strikeouts.
Bacone trailed 1-0 entering the fourth inning when they loaded the bases with no outs; Smailit Felix was hit by a pitch to bring home John Burns to tie the game 1-1.
Back-to-back singles by Jean Carlos Rodriguez and Jonathan Villela brought home a total of three runs; Rodriguez also later scored when Ortiz was hit with a pitch with bases loaded.
In game two the Lakers jumped out to an early 6-0 lead before the Warriors scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning; Roosevelt took control of the game after scoring twice in the fourth and fifth to lead Bacone 10-5.
Bacone racked up three runs in the sixth to trail the Lakers 10-8; Roosevelt eventually defeated the Warriors 11-8.
Villela finished two-for-four with one RBI; Pake Montgomery took the loss after allowing six earned runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Bacone (14-6) hosts Roosevelt University in a doubleheader at home on Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m.
