MUSKOGEE, Okla. – An overtime thriller went Texas Wesleyan’s way as the Rams held off the Bacone Warriors 66-63 in overtime on Monday, Jan. 7 at the Palmer Center.
Trailing 56-50 with 4:40 remaining the Warriors turned up the intensity on defense, halting the Rams offensive attack the rest of the way while eventually tying it on a layup by Christian Smith with 1:35 to go.
After the Warriors regained possession off a missed shot, guard Creed Flowers was called for an offensive foul giving the possession to the Rams with 40 seconds remaining in the second half.
A block by Smith gave Bacone the final possession where Kwame Bates launched a three-pointer that bounced off the rim, Jeremy McClain grabbed the board but couldn’t convert underneath and Smith tried a last second tip-in which went in and out forcing overtime.
