Southwestern Outlasts Bacone 71-67

WINFIELD, Kan. – A late jumper with 11 seconds left broke a 67-67 tie as the Southwestern College Moundbuilders outlasted the Bacone Warriors 71-67 Monday, Nov. 12 at Stewart Field House.

Tied 67-67 Southwestern's Michael Morales connected to put the Moundbuilders up 69-67; the Warriors would turn the ball over on the ensuing inbounds play then foul which allowed Southwestern to knock down a pair of free throws to put the final nails in the coffin.

For the game the Warriors hit 43 percent (25 of 58), five of 17 three-point attempts and committed 11 turnovers.

Christian Smith paced Bacone with 18 points and eight rebounds; Kwame Bates chipped in 15.

Bacone (1-3) turns their attention to the Friends University Classic where they'll open up against Bethel College on Friday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m.
