Track Spotlight: Arnold and Hensley
September 23, 2013
MUSKOGEE, Okla. - Throughout the track & field season Bacone will highlight two members each week as fans will learn more about the 2013-2014 Bacone Warriors and Lady Warriors.
The first to be spotlighted is freshman Ke’Shonda Arnold; Arnold comes to Bacone by way of Plano, Texas where she attended Plano East Senior High School.
Arnold is a 5’4 sprinter/jumper who head coach Darrin Prince expects big things from.
“She’s (Arnold) a solid performer with a big upside,” coach Prince noted. “She has shown the ability to be extremely focused which is an important attribute in track and field.”
Arnold’s favorite movie: Déjà vu.
This week’s second spotlight is Walter Hensley IV; Hensley is freshman from Tucson, Ariz. who attended the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy.
Hensley will compete for the Warriors cross-country program where he had a successful high school career; during his high school days he finished fourth as junior in the 3200-m state championship race and eighth as a senior in the same race.
He (Hensley) was a member of a 4X800 meter relay team that finished fourth in 2012 and a member of a cross-country squad that won the state championship in 2009.
“Walter has started off fast out of the blocks,” coach Prince added. “He’s only a freshman and is already one of the best cross-country runners in the conference.”
Hensley’s favorite quote: “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.”
