Warriors Bring Home 10 All-American Honors

MARION, Ind. – Once again the Bacone College track & field team had an impressive outing on the biggest stage of the season, the NAIA Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, where they brought home 10 NAIA All-American awards.
"Everybody did really well, it was a good meet," first-year head coach Darrin Prince said. "This just continues to add to the tradition and strength of our men's program, not only at the conference level but on the national level as well."
Leading off for the Warriors was the men’s 4X100 meter relay team, consisting of Jarvis Allen, Andre Barnett, Samuel Cuffey and Collin Swanagan; the squad punched their ticket to the finals with the ninth best time at 41.44.
In the finals the relay team snatched up seventh place with a time of 41.45 and took All-American honors in the process.
In the men’s 400 meter hurdles Emmanuel Birdens made the finals by finishing first in his heat with a final time of 54.13; the junior continued his momentum in the finale where he took eighth and All-American status at 53.36.
Swanagan later finished seventh in the men’s 200 meter dash finals at 21.76 which gave him two All-American awards for the outdoor season; he advances out of the preliminary round with a time of 21.85.
Finally, the men’s 4X400 relay team consisting of Andre Barnett, Emmanuel Birdens, Samuel Cuffey and Angel Gaetan advanced to the relay finals after finishing with the seventh best time at 3:13.58.
In the last event for Bacone the relay team didn’t disappoint, taking home seventh place at 3:12.64 and four more All-American honors to bring the total to 10.
Cuffey, the lone senior, wrapped up his Warrior career with two All-American honors to bring his total to three; he previously won All-American honors at the 2012 NAIA Indoor National Championships.
Bacone finished the year ranked 38th out of 157 NAIA schools competing.
