Volleyball Grabs 8 Selections on RRAC Team

WACO, Texas – The Red River Athletic Conference announced the 2013 volleyball All-Conference team with eight Bacone players receiving honors.

Junior Jade Tigilau and sophomore Adelya Howard were named to the RRAC All-Conference first-team; Tigilau was second on the team in kills with 291but first in aces with 32, Howard led Bacone in kills with 310 and in hitting percentage at .234.

Senior Leslie Jenkins and junior Toree Misa’alefua nabbed spots on the RRAC All-Conference second-team; Jenkins finished the season with 235 kills, 19 aces and 311 digs.

Misa’alefua is first in the RRAC in assists with 1,049 while also accumulating 56 kills and 34 aces.

Stephanie Aikens grabbed a spot on the RRAC honorable mention team; the junior libero totaled 47 aces and 485 digs on the season.

Additionally, Aikens and Sabrina were named to the RRAC Champions of Character team.

Head coach Jacob Rodriguez was also named the RRAC Co-Coach of the Year along with UT-Brownsville’s Todd Lowery; Rodriguez led the Bacone Lady Warriors to a 20-11 record which was the highest win total since 2006 when Bacone totaled 16 wins.

Additionally, the Lady Warriors grabbed the third seed in the RRAC tournament after finishing in seventh and missing the RRAC tournament in 2012.
