Head Women’s Basketball Coach Josh Nichols is pleased to announce the addition of Alfred Davis to the Lady Warrior staff. Coach Davis comes from Dominican University in Chicago, Illinois, where he served as an assistant basketball coach to the women’s team as well as a recruiter for the men’s and women’s tennis programs. Davis has also spent six years coaching AAU basketball with Toi Baylor and Baylor Basketball out of Northwest Indiana. Davis is originally from Gary, Ind. graduating from Westside High School before playing two years at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas where he helped lead them to a 26-6 record his freshman year and also regular season champions before transferring to Bacone College in 2011 to finish out his college playing career.
“Al was one of my first recruits when I took the assistant men’s job in the summer of 2011. Al was a great student and a fantastic leader for us in his two years at Bacone,” Nichols said. Davis was a student assistant for one season for the Lady Warriors before graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice from Bacone in the 2013.
“I would like to thank President Frank Willis, Coach Nichols and Athletic Director Alan Foster for giving me the opportunity to come back and coach at my alma mater. I look forward to learning more about the game of basketball and teaching our players the great values of being a student athlete at Bacone College,” said Davis.
Davis will join assistant coach Mary Keys in helping with the day to day operations of the Lady Warriors’ basketball program. “I look forward to working with Al. He has a lot to offer our program and I am so glad he is back at Bacone to be a positive influence to all student athletes as to what hard work can do,” added Nichols.
